This mounting system can be used in a vehicle with Bucket or Bench seats, and is typically mounted on the passenger-side floor of the vehicle. Vehicle Bases The Vehicle Base secures the entire mounting system to the vehicle. Our bases are constructed of heavy-gauge steel for long-term use. Some vehicle bases are "custom bases", designed to fit a certain vehicle and attach using the existing seat bolts, while other bases require drilling. A lower tube is typically attached to the vehicle base; if one is not already welded to the vehicle base, you will need to order one separately. Poles Lower Tubes and Upper Poles attach to the Vehicle Base and together provide the means for adjusting the overall height of the mounting system and also help to bring the computer closer to the user. There are also accessories that limit vibration or provide a quick-release option. Motion Attachments Motion Attachments join the Upper Pole and Cradle/Docking Station (the item that actually holds your laptop). Motion attachments help to create a more comfortable working environment by providing tilt, swivel, slide and extending capabilities so you can adjust the working angle of your laptop, or bring the laptop closer to you while you work, then store it out of the way when you're done. Cradle and Docking Stations Cradles and Docking Stations attach to the Motion Attachment and safely secure your laptop computer in your vehicles. Docking stations typically provide port replication — a simplified way of "plugging-in" a portable laptop computer to common computer peripherals. A cradle does not provide any port replication. Radio Center Console System A Radio Center Console System is generally used in the Public Safety industry. It is primarily favored for mounting multiple radios and equipment low and out of the airbag zone. Together, the components listed below are assembled to complete a Pedestal System solution.

Mission Control System (MCS Series) Together our Top Plate, Vehicle Legs, and Console Box make up the MCS mounting system. You can easily integrate a Computer Cradle/Docking Station by attaching a Lower Tube and Upper Pole to the Top Plate. ICRI - Radio Interoperability

The "ICRI" is a small, portable 'switch' used to interconnect municipal public safety radios, state and federal radios and telephone that sets-up in just minutes. It has full cross-band and cross-platform capabilities. Additional features for 2007 include 4 talk groups; 10-radio interface; bridge unit ID; cables for all P25; a Nextel^TM iDEN^TM PTT-mode interface, handset option. Five and ten channel rack mounting versions are now also available.

JPS Communications, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Raytheon Company, designs, manufactures and sells electronic hardware and software products that enhance the effectiveness of communications systems. World Leaders in Interoperability

Interoperability means the ability for two or more parties (e.g., two different public safety agencies) to exchange information, when and where needed, even when disparate communications systems are involved. JPS addresses an increasingly critical need in the public safety industry for communications interoperability. Our high frequency (HF) radio systems and land mobile radio (LMR) products enable interoperability in situations where agencies could not otherwise communicate due to the incompatibility of their existing communications systems. Applications for these systems are virtually unlimited, with a primary focus on public safety and homeland security capabilities.

The company's ACU-M is a miniature interoperability device built on the proven ACU technology. The device has an intuitive control panel for operation, field diagnostics and programming. Weighing less than 3 pounds, the ACU-M is easily deployed and affordably priced. The ACU-M provides interoperability between its four audio ports (for radios or other devices), two voice over internet protocol (VoIP) channels and a headset port.

 

 

VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, which is a means of digitizing voice signals and sending them over a digital network. The digital network can be a LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), or the Internet itself. The NXU-2 embodies this VoIP technology in a way that enables communications radios to be interconnected across the room or around the world. The NXU-2A is the latest module offering for the NXU-2 Network eXtension Unit, offering several new features.

PCNXU is a PC implementation of the NXU-2 and allows a computer equipped with a sound card and Ethernet connection to communicate with an NXU-2. Audio may be sent and received, and the PTT line on the remote device may be controlled.

ARA-1 "SIP Technology"

Raytheon’s JPS Communications introduces its new Analog Radio Adapter, the ARA-1. Comparable to an analog telephone adapter (ATA), which allows a standard telephone to operate on a session initiation protocol (SIP) network; the ARA-1 provides the same functionality to radios.

“The ARA-1 is a perfect marriage between land mobile radios and IP-based networks," states Mike Cox, vice president of engineering for JPS Communications. "It combines a supremely capable radio interface to the standards-based open SIP protocol that is rapidly becoming the acknowledged pathway to the convergence of voice, data and video."

ARA-1 Case Study
Alberta’s Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) has improved its emergency communications at its new Grande Prairie base by deploying Raytheon JPS Communications’ new ARA-1. Using the ARA-1, an interoperability device that provides an interface between a radio and an IP-based network using SIP, STARS communications specialists can now communicate in a more timely and efficient manner.

Need to communicate where your SIP telephone can't?
The addition of radio interface capability using the ARA-1 not only brings existing radio networks into the SIP arena but also allows SIP-based communications to be extended into areas that are not serviced or cannot be reached using a SIP network. For example, an ARA-1 can be used with an LMR system to extend the SIP network into areas of rugged terrain, across bodies of water, or into tunnels.

Need IP-addressable radios?
With the ARA-1, IP-addressable radio interoperability is now available in the SIP environment. The ARA-1 provides to radio networks all of the features available with SIP. These include interoperable communications among disparate radio systems that is as easy as creating a typical PBX conference call and other PBX features such as Call Logging, Call Forwarding, and Call Recording.

The radio side of the interfaces makes full use of the broad suite of digital signal processor algorithms, hundreds of interface cables and numerous problem solving techniques that JPS has evolved during more than a decade as the market leader in radio interoperability.

SIP & Mobility: Bringing Radio into the 21st Century
The adoption of SIP in the mainstream telephony world has numerous and proven benefits: open standards, a rich feature set, and readily available equipment from multiple vendors. Now SIP brings all of these benefits to land mobile radio (LMR) users plus entirely new interfacing and interoperability options. This article explores how to interface radio equipment with SIP infrastructure and explains the features radio users can expect to enjoy.

Why SIP?
The main goals of modern communications system design include: convergence of voice, data and video; standards-based open protocols; and individual IP addresses for all end-devices. SIP is widely seen as the preferred pathway to achieving them.
