VE6SS
Pigeon Lake Repeater
The Quarter Century Amateur Radio Club took over operation of the VE6SS amateur repeater in October 1987. VE6SS started operation on April 28, 1975. The Amateur Radio League of Alberta built VE6SS and operated it until they turned it over to QCARC to operate in 1987. The location of 'SS' is the southeast end of Pigeon Lake on the new TransAlta site. Since QCARC has operated VE6SS, it was necessary to relocate it from the original TransAlta site to their new site a half mile south.
VE6SS provides a large coverage area which includes highway 2 from Red Deer to Morinville and highway 16 from Elk Island to Lake Wabamun.
Here are the parameters for 'Sugar-Sugar'.

VE6PP
Whitecourt Repeater
Updated November 27, 2006
The Amateur Radio League of Alberta (ARLA) received approval to build the VE6PP repeater on Whitecourt Mountain in October 1980. ARLA operated the repeater until June of 1987 when the Quarter Century Amateur Radio Club (QCARC) took over operation of VE6PP. The next year, QCARC upgraded the operation by moving the repeater from the deisel room to a separate 'shack' provided by the club. The repeater provides a wide coverage area from its antenna location near the top of the Land & Forest lookout tower on Whitecourt mountain. 'PP' provides coverage from Onaway to Smokey River along Hwy 44 and from Lake Wabamun to Edson along Highway 16.
VE6PP has UHF linking capability to the Yellowhead linking system. A Linkcom RLC-2 controller enables the linking and other functions provided on the repeater.
Here are the parameters and codes for the Whitecourt repeater which is commonly referred to as "Papa-Papa":
Parameters
VHF Transmitter/Receiver: Micor Base Station
Antenna: Sinclair four bay colinear, each bay is dual driven element / reflector arrangement.
Antenna Height: 110 feet AG
Latitude: 54-01-57
Longitude: 115-43-11
Site Elevation: 1164 m. AMSL
Controller: Link-Comm RLC-2
UHF Link Equipment: Harris 2000
Link Antenna: Sinclair 317
Power: Commercial only.

MALASPINA COLLEGE AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY
VE7RME repeater is located in Nanaimo. It operates on a transmit frequency of 146.98 mhz and a receive frequency of 146.38 mhz. The equipment consists of a Motorola repeater, duplexers and Sinclair model C-4 antenna. The antenna is 1100 FT. above sea level. Output power is approximately 30 Watts Erp.

The repeater uses repackaged GE and other components with custom features added. The receiver is a modified GE Executive series. The exciter is a modified GE MASTR II of the PLL variety. It drives a 20 watt amplifier salvaged from an old KDK 2-meter transceiver. A home built squelch based on the famous Motorola squelch chip from a Micor has been added, along with signal strength and discriminator meters and some special control circuitry and indicators. The repeater controller is a Link Communications RLC-4 in the 2 meter repeater cabinet. Port 1 of the controller is internally wired to the 2 meter receiver and transmitter, while ports 2 through 4 are wired to DB9 connectors on the repeater rear panel for connection to external repeaters. When the system is on "high power" an external 110 watt amplifier repackaged from a GE MASTR II mobile is used. Thermostat controlled forced air cooling keeps the amplifier temperature within safe limits. A home built 13.8 volt 30 amp continuous duty power supply powers the repeater and charges a backup battery. The 110 watt amplifier has its own 30 amp power supply salvaged from an old RCA VHF base station. The amplifier does not have battery backup as it would discharge the battery very quickly.
The feedline is approximately 120 feet of LDF5-50A (7/8 inch) heliax. The antenna is a Sinclair SRL235-2 dipole array with its center 95 feet above ground.

VA3BPL Repeater
145.425
VA3BPL is located 100km south of Dryden off Hwy 502 on the way to Fort Frances. The tower is a 260', operated by solar, owned by Abitibi Consolidated.

The side mounted Sinclair 210-C4 was once the antenna for a packet repeater node. This was a joint effort between the Amateur Radio Society of Dryden and The Lake of the Woods Amateur Radio Society of Kenora. Dryden supplied the radio and packet node while Kenora supplied the 210-C4 and 7/8" feed line. Since packet has virtually died out locally, it was decided to change the station into a voice repeater. With permission from Abitibi Consolidated, the radio equipment donation from Kenora Mobile Communications, and the controller supplied by the Amateur Radio Society of Dryden we now have a 25 watt repeater to service the area.
The repeater is a GE Exec II, Sinclair Reslock 6-cavity duplexers and an S-Com 7K controller.
